DJ LX - "ALEX - AKA THE MIXDOCTOR"
Growing up in a small town called Kaunakakai on the island of Moloka'i, Alex a.k.a. DJ LX a shy, quiet, humble kid was always in love with music. But it wasn’t till late December of 1999 when LX got into the art of mixing. LX practiced, practiced, and practiced....soon he was ready for the public and started providing music at house parties, birthdays, graduations, weddings and teen dances.
In Summer of 2000 LX moved to the Big Island and resided in a town called Hilo. Shortly after moving there, he met the Digital Playground Crew and started doing mobile gigs with the crew. With his smooth mixing style and technique LX rocked many parties in various towns on the island.
A few months later he met the Flavaboyz Marc Ez and AP who were club promoters from Oahu as well as radio jocks at 107 Jams, which was Hilo’s only Hip-Hop & R&B station at that time. After doing a couple club gigs for them, LX then became a big part of the Flavaboyz, and were throwing down the phattest parties on the island including the first ever 18 & over party at Fiasco’s Night Club. As the Flavaboyz night show on 107 Jams was becoming a huge success, the Flavaboyz felt it needed a little more flava. So they added a live mix show featuring no other than LX in the “Flava In Ya’ Ear Mix”. LX was now one of Hilo’s top DJ's, and began appearing in various night clubs as a special guest DJ.
In October of 2002, LX left the Big Island and moved to Oahu to attend College. And there he met one of his idols DJ Krazy-K, who was (KPHW) 104.3 XME’s (Now Power 104.3) Music Director. After DJing with Krazy-K for the first time, Krazy-K recognized LX's skills instantly and asked him if he wanted to become a mixer for the radio station. This was a “dream come true” for LX. It was always a dream of his to become a mixer for one of Hawaii’s top radio station. LX then started off mixing on the Friday Night Mixshow and was also mixing at various night clubs in Honolulu. As his skills progressed dramatically, he was then given the privilege to mix on the live broadcast from Blue Tropix Night Club for “Flirt” along with DJ Big John. LX was now becoming one of 104.3's top mixers and gained alot of recognition in the Radio and Club scene.
August 2005, LX moved to the island of Maui along with Marc Ez, and H-Boogie shortly after graduating from Heald College to become the Web Systems Coordinator for Pacific Radio Group, the group that owns (KJMD) Da Jam 98.3 Hawaii’s Hot Hits. He was a big part of the "Boogie Men Night Show" with Marc Ez & H-Boogie. LX was featured nightly mixing live on the air in the "Backyard Boogie Mix" where he demonstrated his talent and style to a whole new audience.
Currently LX is once again a Power-Mixer on Power 104.3 (KPHW) you can catch him in the mix every Friday night on the Power Mixshow along with the rest of Power 104.3's all star Mixers (James Coles, Big John, Mr. Goodvybe, Mike D, and Krazy K). He's also still one of Da Jam's top Hit-Mixers!! You can find him, operating on the turntables at any of our parties/events...
